54 Roma children from the Roma settlement on the outskirts of the city (panel buildings without windows and only concrete floors) are brought to us in school buses for lunch, receive a warm meal (they don’t have that at home), lessons in hygiene and private tuition. Sports, dancing and games are also on the programme.

Non-Roma parents who were initially skeptical about what we are doing with “these children” suddenly realized that they are doing better at school than their own children. So they asked us if they could also send their own children to our care. This is of course perfect for our image and for integration, and so we increased our number to 80 children, some of whom are now non-Roma children.

One of the children is already going to university and some work in different jobs.
